چکیده
Multi-modal systems which can handle spontaneous speech have been popular in these days. But there are only a few multi-domain systems which consider about extensibility and scalability. This paper proposes an open architecture for the multi-domain spoken dialog systems which satis es extensibility and scalability. The key concept of the architecture is distribution and integration of the data fragments. The data fragments are information about speech input obtained from the continuous speech recognition engine. Each fragment is distributed and integrated through the hierarchy of the domain managers and the work modules. The way of the system composition is clearly de nd and the structure for the data fragment is de ned as open end. Using our architecture, a multi-domain system can be easily composed with several single domain systems and managers.

Public Transport Ontology for Passenger Information Retrieval
Passenger information aims at improving the user-friendliness of public transport systems while influencing passenger route choices to satisfy transit user’s travel requirements. The integration of transit information from multiple agencies is a major challenge in implementation of multi-modal passenger information systems. The problem of information sharing is further compounded by the multi-l...
متن کاملDMML: An XML Language for Interacting with Multi-Modal Dialog Systems
We present Dialog Moves Markup Language (DMML): an extensible markup language (XML) representation of modality independent communicative acts of automated conversational agents. In our architecture, DMML is the interface to and from conversational dialog managers for user interactions through any channel or modality. The use of a common XML interface language across different channels promotes ...
متن کاملTowards an Expressive Embodied Conversational Agent Utilizing Ethnicity and Gender to Augment Solution Focused Therapy
In this article, we present ongoing research, EMO, an affective embodied conversational agent platform, aimed at depicting multi-ethnic, multi-modal communication patterns in a credible manner. We employ the methodology of integrating counseling concepts early in the design to effectively target a specific domain. The system is geared to augment solution focused therapy. We present a prototype ...
متن کاملEvaluating AdApt, a multi-modal conversational, dialogue system, using PARADISE
This master’s thesis presents experiences from an evaluation of AdApt, a multi modal, conversational dialogue system, using PARADISE, PARAdigm for Dialogue System Evaluation, a general framework for evaluation. The purpose of this master’s thesis was to assess PARADISE as an evaluation tool for such a system. An experimental study with 26 subjects was performed. The subjects were asked to inter...
متن کاملDifferent Approaches to Build Multilingual Conversational Systems
The paper describes developments and results of the work being carried out during the European research project CATCH-2004 (Converse in AThens Cologne and Helsinki). The objective of the project is multi-modal, multi-lingual conversational access to information systems. This paper concentrates on issues of the multilingual telephony-based speech and natural language understanding components.
